Q. Do you stock pulleys?
A. Yes, we stock many different diameters and lengths of drum pulleys. We offer them with or without vulcanized lagging. All have hubs and bushings to accommodate your bore size.
Q. What is your normal lead time?
A. Normal delivery runs 5-7 working days. This varies depending on material availability, work load, and the complexity of your pulley requirement.
Q. Is there quicker delivery available?
A. Yes, ask one of our customer service representatives about our "Express Service" where for a nominal fee, we will ship in 48-72 hrs.
Q. How do I go about ordering pulleys?
A. Specify dimensions in the following sequence.
- Drum or wing pulley
- Diameter (before lagging)
- Face length of pulley
- Crowned or flat face
- End disc configuration (welded shaft, internal bearings, fixed bore hub, bushings)
- Shaft diameter
- Shaft length
- Shaft extensions
- Lagging thickness (if applicable)
- Special instructions (V-grooves, stainless steel, grooved lagging)
Q. When should I put lagging on my pulley?
A. Lagging is used primarily on drive pulleys to increase the coefficient of friction between the pulley and belt.
Q. What is the benefit of grooving the lagging?
A. Grooved lagging is used primarily to eliminate moisture from the underside of the belt. It also can aid in traction between the pulley and belt. We see little, if any, benefit in grooves tracking the belt.
Q. Do you supply shafting?
A. Yes, we can supply 1018, 1045, 304 stainless, and many other alloys. Our standard shafting is turned, ground, and polished for extended bearing life.
Q. Can you key and install my shaft?
A. Yes, we can cut keyways, journal the ends, mill flats, drill and tap, and install your shaft into your pulley.
